Figleaves takes “going green” to a whole new level with the launch of “Greenleaves,” a special department on the website dedicated to eco-friendly underwear and sleepwear for women and men. Greenleaves features lingerie sets, robes, loungewear and even hosiery for women from niche, environmentally-focused designers as well as special “green” collections from mainstream brands. On the men’s side, Greenleaves offers briefs, tanks and tees crafted from eco-friendly fabrics like soy and bamboo.
Highlights from Greenleaves include:
* GreenKnickers – British duo Sarah Lucy Smith and Rose Cleary-Southwood created GreenKnickers, eco-friendly briefs for women, to prove that “ethical choices can be funny, beautiful and sexy.” Their colorful knickers have thermochromatic inks so the prints change as the fabric heats up against the skin. All briefs are made with organic cotton, hemp or specially-designed man-made cellulose fibers and dyes. Prices range from $47 for hemp-silk blend knickers to $208for organic cotton briefs.
* Chantelle – French intimate apparel brand Chantelle enters the eco-friendly category with a new collection, which includes bras, boyshorts and thongs, all crafted from a bamboo blend jersey. Because it’s soft, bamboo is ideal for wearing closest to the skin. What’s more, the plant grows quickly without the need for pesticides, and the fiber is fully biodegradable. Prices range from $80 for a bra to $42 for a thong.
* C-IN2 – Men’s underwear brand C-IN2 offers guilt-free basics for the environmentally-conscious male. C-IN2’s “Bamboo” range features briefs, boxer briefs, tanks and jock straps crafted from bamboo fibers, creating underwear that’s naturally antimicrobial and a good option for those prone to skin allergies from chemical processing. Prices range from $20 for a brief to $25 for a square-neck tank.
