Webaholic

Not since the advent of computer, has there ever been better way to shop.  So what was once a considered a cumbersome task –trying to find your size, color etc., in a brick and mortar, retail store- should now become a thing of the past. Unless you of course enjoy the thrill of the chase, in this case, competing with other rival customers over thumbed through, less-than perfect merchandise that somewhat  resembles remnants of a frenzied yard sale. Ever notice that the last dress left in your size is always missing a button or two and has a ton of make-up stains? But reluctantly in a panicky haste, you end up buying-fearing you’ll never lay eyes on something this hot again…. Yeah, I know- Sucker!!! Instead why not shop “live” on your PC-you spend about half of your life there anyway… or would you prefer to while away more time and CASH on a Sunday afternoon?? Another FYI (as if you didn’t already know, wink) you tend to part with a little less green online!! Just make sure to take advantage of all those really cool web perks!  Right now Urbanoutfitters.com and Zappos.com have free shipping for any girl who’s a ‘confirmed’ or ‘unconfirmed’ shoe fanatic…does anyone remember my shoe size?

Happy Spring Shopping!

Lindsay Lohan's Spring Style & Shopping Spree

Lindsay Lohan was spotted shopping in the Valley last weekend at Rumor boutique. She was overheard talking about her haircolor, shopping, a Milan trip and some upcoming movie deals.

Where Gossip Girls Shop

editboutique.jpg

I’ve never had an after hours pool party at prep school.  Hush hush, but my relatives don’t dress for dinner.  Guess I’ll just live my CW fantasy in the 2,500 square-foot marble space at 91st and Lex awash with Derek Lam, Hanii Y, Charles Chang Lima, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Michael Kors and considerable baubles.  No, I didn’t sneak into Blair Waldorf’s closet and her mother’s jewelry box.  Edit boutique, with its chandelier made of golf ball sized Swarovski, has much better lighting.

Smart Shopping

lisakline.jpgThis year, I plotted a smart holiday strategy.  I asked everyone for cash.  That’s right, cold, hard cash.  Nothing romantic, sweet, or cute.  I’ll pick my own presents.  Why not?  I had discovered many of them online already. This year when sales come around I was in the black.  My first stop: Lisa Kline’s annual blowout for a slim-fit Lily McNeal cardy to keep me cozy chic and a Manoush pussy bow blouse to add variety to my 9-5 wardrobe.  But I had to deviate from my sale items ONLY plan.  I could not leave without their hand-pleated white blouse.  With its architectural details my jeans and heels will be way more uptown.  Paired with a pencil skirt, I’ll aspire to be a Hitchcock blonde (with much darker hair).

L.A. Sample Sales

Just in time for holiday shopping, celebrity-adored clothing label Puella is having a sample sale in Los Angeles. This Saturday, from 10 am - 5 pm you can score the same dresses spotted on Kate Hudson at a huge markdown (7122 Beverly Blvd, 2nd floor). The sample sale will also feature styles from Raison D’etre, a luxurious all linen line, and Jee Vice optics, a great sunglasses line worn by Lindsay and Madonna. I can't think of a better way to give your friends fab gifts and still stay within budget!

If you want to score the Puella tank worn on Weeds, check it out here.

I Shop Til I Drop

If given the choice between a week long cruise to the Bahamas or a one hour shopping spree at Saks, I’d really have to think about it. And after 10 seconds of thought, I would undoubtedly choose Saks. For some, this choice is absurd. But for a true shopaholic, it’s the obvious choice – it is the only choice. To help placate the insatiable shoplust experienced by others such as myself, I created an “I Shop Til I Drop” group on StyleLogue. In it I added a few fun lists that will indulge a girl’s shopping fantasy, including “Clutches to Covet” and “Darling Dresses.” If you can commiserate with the pain of my maxed-out Visa (as only another true shopaholic could), pop in for some StyleLogue ‘group therapy’ and check out the fabulously frivolous finds. Or, create your own group to fill with your favorite retail-binge items. C’est chic!

Vexing Vintage

We at StarStyle just love vintage. Vintage clothing can be chic, timeless, and a treasure to keep and pass down to future generations. Wearing vintage also assures you that no one else at the party will show up wearing your fabulous find, which in my humble opinion is worth its weight in gold (especially in a day and age where every good designer dress is so publicized and recognizable). However, if you need another reason to go vintage, consider doing it for the environment. That's right - instead of paying up the yin-yang for Stella McCartney's uber organic, enviro-chic collection (and contributing to fashion's wastefulness), walk yourself to the local thrift store and score a hidden gem for pennies on the dollar. I've heard jaw-dropping, saliva-inducing thrift store tales about ladies scoring a genuine Hermes Birkin for $10, or a classic Chanel tweed jacket for $50. And if you're still too lazy to go vintage (shame!), check out our Building Green store for more eco-chic items...

Retail Therapy

If you are like me, you pride yourself on being able to detect a bargain or, more importantly, justify blowing your entire paycheck on a pair of shoes.  For those who are not certifiable shopaholics, there is help: an actual service aimed at honing your novice browsing skills.  Shop Gotham (shopgotham.com) creates shopping tours of such enviable Manhattan destinations as SoHo, NoLiTa and the Garments Center.  Their 2-3 hour excursions pack in up to 12 stops at unique boutiques and contain tons of tidbits about fashion history, architecture, and of course the latest celeb gossip.
See what we're splurging on for Fall on our Big Apple shopping trip.
